Hi Everyone
Spring has Sprung and it’s been a busy few weeks at GB Harrogate! We welcomed Professor Braulio Estima to the academy for a fantastic seminar, and Gracie Barra Apperley Bridge celebrated a big 1 year anniversary, welcoming Adisa Banjoko to Albion Mills for another great seminar! we launched our new website and merged our social channels. We’ve also combined our newsletter, so all of our members can find out what’s happening at each of our schools.
It’s been action packed, but promises to continue into April as we host our Easter Grading and Social this week! We’ve got some early registrations for Empire Grappling’s next Yorkshire Open, and Professors Khalil and Lewis will be getting ready to head to the Gracie Barra World Summit in Protugal.

Gracie Barra Harrogate
Easter Grading and Social: 17th April
Rounding off the week before our Easter Break, we’ll be hosting our Easter Grading and Social on Thursday! Join us at 6.30pm for a combined GB1 and GB2 class, which will be followed by our grading to celebrate the progress and achievements of our training partners. We'‘ll then be heading to Roosters for 8pm to celebrate - everyone is welcome so come along and join in!
The academy will then be closed until Tuesday, reopening after the bank holiday weekend.
Braulio Estima Seminar: A Masterclass from A Jiu Jitsu Great
We had the pleasure to welcome Braulio Estima back to Gracie Barra Harrogate. As one of the biggest names in not just the Gracie Barra organisation but Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as a sport, so it was fantastic to welcome him to our community. He delivered an absolute masterclass and the feedback from the session has been excellent. A big thank you to everyone who attended and we hope you took elements away that you can apply to your game going forward!

1 Year Anniversary Celebrations with Adisa Banjoko
We were absolutely thrilled to celebrate 1 year of Gracie Barra Apperley Bridge by welcoming the amazing Adisa Banjoko to the academy. It was a fantastic evening for both our GBK and adults members - we hope you all enjoyed his session and have some great new principles to apply to your game!
Apperley Bridge Easter Opening Times
We’ll be closing the academy over the bank holiday weekend, with our final classes taking place on Thursday, before we open as normal on Tuesday! Enjoy the break and we look forward to jumping back in after the long weekend!
Professors Lewis and Khalil Head To The Gracie Barra World Summit
Professor Lewis and Professor Khalil will be heading to the Gracie Barra World Summit next month! Taking place in Portugal, the GB World Summit brings together Gracie Barra’s global Jiu-Jitsu family to connect, learn, and celebrate what is best about our team. Since its first gathering in Las Vegas in 2017, the Summit has connected thousands of GB Team Members and reinforcing our shared mission of bringing Jiu-Jitsu for Everyone.
Empire Grappling Yorkshire Open
Empire Grappling returns to Yorkshire on the 4th of May for what promises to be a brilliant day of competition. Taking place in Barnsley, this offers new and experienced members to test themselves outside the academy in a fun and inclusive atmosphere. Gracie Barra Summer Training Camp: Tenerife
The Gracie Barra Summer Training Camp is back in 2025, this time in Tenerife! This is an incredible experience for both kids and adults to learn from leading Gracie Barra Instructors in a beautiful holiday setting. The program offers up to 3 hours of training for adults and 1 hour for kids each day, along with various activities and opportunities to connect with instructors and training partners from around the world.
