Hi Everyone
We’re into May and we’ve got some really exciting changes, news and competition coming up over the next few months!
First up, we’re really excited to announce that we’ll be incorporating GB Online into our adult and advanced GB Kids memberships from June. GB Online is a digital platform and app offering a huge host of online resources and tutorial for every experience level. Tutorials are delivered by world class instructors through a consistent learning experience to perfectly compliment your Jiu Jitsu experience with us. We’re the first schools in the UK to offer this as part of our memberships, and we’re really excited to be bringing this as an added benefit of training with us at Gracie Barra Harrogate and Gracie Barra Apperley Bridge.
In the meantime, we’ve already had some big competitions landing in May. Jack and Aza headed to Barcelona last weekend to compete in the IBJJF Masters Championships - great work against phenomenal opponents guys, well done! We also had a great team head to Barnsley to compete in the Empire Grappling Yorkshire Open. A HUGE well done to Carl, Oscar, Edward, Louis, Sidney, Cristina, Sofia, James, Oscar T and Archie from Harrogate, and Chander, Andi, Oliver and Adam from Apperley Bridge! You did us all proud!
Professor Khalil and Professor Lewis are heading to the Gracie Barra World Summit this month to catch up on all things GB, ready to feedback when they return, and we’ve got a provisional date in place for the next GBK Interclub - see below!

GB Online x GB Harrogate & Apperley Bridge
As mentioned above, we’re really excited to be taking your training experience to the next level by introducing GB Online as part of your membership. Are coaching team have been reviewing and utilising content across the platform in all of our programmes, and we’re really excited for our members to be receiving this, too. The regular cost of GB Online sits at $24.99 a month, so this is a huge saving for our members and a great way to compliment your training here with us.
We’re the first GB schools in the UK to be offering this, so we can’t wait to hear how you get on with the tutorials, and to see how our members add new elements to their game at every level!

Competitions: IBJJF Masters & Empire Grappling Yorkshire Open
It’s a huge month for competition for our students. We’ve had 14 members across 2 schools head to the Empire Grappling Yorkshire Open over in Barnsley. We’re really proud and impressed of your efforts not only on the day, but in the run up to the competition. We hope that you enjoyed the experience of competing and will give it another try!
Coach Jack and Assistant Coach Aza flew over to Barcelona to compete at the IBJJF Masters, too! This was a major event in the BJJ competition calendar and as always, we’re so proud of everyone who takes on the challenge of competing amongst some of the best competitors across the world. Well done guys, a great effort shown!
GB World Summit 2025
Professors Khalil and Lewis are heading to Lisboa, Portugal for the annual GB World Summit. As Gracie Barra’s biggest event of the year, school owners and instructors from across the world will be coming together to learn how we can make the experience of our members the best it can be. We’ll be feeding back learnings we’ve taken in next month’s newsletter!
GB Harrogate x GB Apperley Bridge Kids Interclub: Sunday 13th July
GBK Parents save the date - our next kids interclub will be taking place on Sunday the 13th of July! If your child is interested in competing, please feel free to speak to the coaches about getting involved. We’ll be sending out our sign up form in due course!
